New Zealand General Skilled Migration

The calculation of the points of Skilled Migration is based on the applicants' English level, age, qualifications, working experiences and financial abilities.

Notes:
Some professions such as Architects, Technicians, Nutritionist, Lawyers, Doctors, Nurses and Teachers are not easily accepted for the General Skilled Migration.

New Zealand Immigration Policy

Following the review of the General Skills Category (GSC) the government has announced that a new Skilled Migrant Category will replace the GSC.

This change is will mean New Zealand will become an active recruiter of the skills and talent New Zealand needs.

The Skilled Migrant Category will require a relevant job offer in addition to meeting the pass mark (PR Points) for residence in New Zealand.

The employment offer must be relevant either to the qualification or work experience for which they are claiming points. Job Search Visas and Permits will not be available and points will no longer be awarded for non-relevant job offers.

People who are already in New Zealand, or who have a New Zealand tertiary qualification, are more likely to get relevant offer or employment which makes them more likely to be among those invited to apply for residence.

For example:
If you are graduate in Business or IT from Whitireia Polytechnic and then gain an employment offer in business or IT your application will be accepted.

Problems will only arise if, for example, you have studied business and then gain an employment offer in a non business area ( bar person/waitress etc).
